Oct 2007 The Lines from Ross Diagram has been replaced with a custom Google Map. The Wye Valley Diagram has been replaced with a custom Google Map. Sep 2007 The Severn & Wye Diagram has been replaced with a custom Google map, which I believe gives a better representation of the lines covered, along with points of interest, and references back to some of the publications referenced by the site. It's not quite finished at this stage, but I deem it ready enough for general publication. I hope to be able to replace all the diagrams in a similar fashion. As part of the update to the site, the history of the Severn & Wye/Dean Forest Railway is now in six sections, with events from 2000 onwards being on a new page. The Parkend page has been updated and has had photos added July 2007 After a break to deal with domestic issues, I am in the process of overhauling this site with intention of (a) reformatting to make the site work better with IE7, (b) updating for recent events in some areas (c) correcting any bugs and (d) increasing security on any pages with photographs. RotFoD is the section I feel is in most need of the overhaul and thus will be the first section to be done. Jan 2003 I have introduced a "spam" trap onto some of the email links on this site. If the link contains "nospam", remove these characters to make the address work. Although the emails are not linked to my personal address, they are getting to be quite a nuisance, and a lot are pornographic in nature. Dec 2002 I have amended the criteria for membership of the GWR webring, especially with regards to commercial sites. Aug 2002 I have decided to switch the LMS webring link to the page on "Gateway to the LMS" as every time I amend the webring pages, I have to do it 5 times on the old system. By doing this, I reduce the amendments required to 2. July 2002 More revisions to the GWR webring info. This include notes on customising the nav bar code and a revision of terms. June 2002 Because of the possibility that the pop-up nav bars may not be compatible with some browsers, I am installing backup links at the bottom of all pages using this system. The impending demise of my Netscape account means that this site has moved again, and now has a domain name of its own. I have also finally finished the conversion to sliding menu bars. January 2002 In light of new facilities on Webring, the instructions on both LMS and GWR webrings have been re-written. The demise of the Kyte Family webring has led me to update the links page somewhat. With my sudden acquisition of the GWR webring, this site has become the ringmaster site to the ring, and a introductory page has been added. November 2001 After a break for computer upgrades, The Lydney Town page has now had photograph added. Information on the LMS webring has been added to the site; mainly so the site can act as "Ringmaster" site if the situation demands. September 2001 Updates on the northern extension have been posted. August 2001 The site has been moved to a new location due to slow servers. July 2001 The home page has had a sliding menu bar added, and other cosmetic adjustments have been applied. June 2001 The site is undergoing a makeover similiar to that of its sister site. May 2001 The DFR loco list has been restored to the site. I have updated the areas of the site concerning Lydney Town to reflect confirmation of the opening of the new station. I have added a overall diagram of the area, accessible from the home page. This is not as detailed as the other diagrams and is intended for those visitors who are not overly familiar with the area.
Guidelines for contributing
material to the site have been added. In response to a letter in Webuser about resolution, I have switched to a larger font size for the main text. If anyone has any comments about this, please feel free to email me. April 2001 The conversion of the photographs to JPEG is now complete. I have decided to leave the existing maps as GIF. For those of you wondering about the appearance of a new icon on the home page, I have linked this site into the GWR web ring at Yahoo. More details can be found by using the links on the icon. February 2001 In light of receiving a link from the official Dean Forest Railway Website, I have decided to restructure the site slightly, dropping the tourist section on the Dean Forest Railway, as I feel that this site is better off concentrating on the historical aspects of the railways of the area and leaving the official site to promote the current aspects of the Dean Forest Railway. Unfortunately, this means that the section on DFR motive power has also been removed, although I may restore this at a later date.
