Areas of the site marked (*) display photographs and as such, may take some time to download with dial-up, although I have attempted to keep image sizes to a minimum. All photographs are my own.

This is a website dedicated to the Railways of the Forest of Dean (past and present - mostly past) in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. Although this site started out with the intention of promoting the Dean Forest Railway, the introduction of an official DFR site meant that some of the original work was a duplication of effort, so I decided to concentrate more on the history of all the Forest's railways. For those of you who have come from the official site, I aim to provide more information about the railways of the Forest of Dean when they served an industrial purpose. Those of you interested in the historical background of the Dean Forest Railway should click on the Severn & Wye Railway Link left.

NOTE : The Forest of Dean Branch and The Dean Forest Railway are not the same line.

Although this site has a link from the official Dean Forest Railway Website, it is not officially recognised by the Society; any opinions stated in this site are purely those of the author and should not be taken as official policy unless otherwise stated.

As of January 2002, this site is now the ringmaster site of the GWR webring
