5029 "Nunney Castle" at Evesham |
|
|
Great Western "Castle" class No 5029 "Nunney" Castle put in an appearance at Evesham on Saturday 14th July, 2001. It was hauling the 2nd (although actually the first to run) Elgar Explorer, and a change in route meant that the tour passed through Evesham in both directions. My previous encounter with 5029 had involved bad weather and a Class 47 pilot engine, due to a mechanical failure. Fortunately a repeat of "The Exmoor Coast Express" was averted with the rain clearing up for the tour's arrival at Evesham, and 5029 in full working order. Not a Class 47 in sight.
5029 "Nunney Castle" arrives at Evesham at 13.30 with the 'down' "Elgar Explorer"
5029 "Nunney Castle" returning to Evesham at 18.45 with the 'up' "Elgar Explorer"
5029 passes Evesham Platform 2 heading for Moreton-In-The-Marsh.
